As the summer rolls in, you get more time to dedicate your weekends to binging on your favourite films. The best part of family movie night though? The snacks. Always the snacks. We’ve put together a list of our favourite easy-to-make snacks that you can rustle up before you settle down for movie night.
1. Brownie Shake
Decadent, indulgent and chocolatey, this milkshake is perfect to sip on as your favourite characters get up to their hijinks.
Simply blend together 2 brownies, 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream and 1/4th cup whole milk. Pour into your favourite mug and top with chopped brownies, whipped cream or sprinkles.
2. Avocado Hummus with Chips
A healthy take on finger foods, this Avocado Hummus will fill you up, while also keeping you guilt-free.
All you have to do is blend together 1 whole avocado, 200g soaked and boiled chickpeas, 1 tbsp tahini (sesame paste), 1 clove of garlic, 2 tbsp lime juice, 2 tbsp olive oil and salt and pepper. Spoon into a bowl and top with extra virgin olive oil. Serve with your favourite chips.
3. Peanut Butter and Caramel Popcorn
Popcorn’s an incredibly versatile snack, whether you like it smothered in butter or just tossed with salt. Here’s a rich take on everyone’s favourite popcorn that’ll keep you reaching into your bowl.
Preheat your oven to 120°C. Prepare a batch of your favourite plain popcorn. In a pan, combine 2/3 cup Dhampure Mineral Brown Sugar, 2 ½ tbsp butter, 2/3 cup corn syrup and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in ½ cup peanut butter and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Spread your popcorn over a baking sheet and coat with the peanut butter caramel. Bake for an hour, mixing every 15 minutes.

4. Apple Cinnamon Chips
Swap out your usual nachos for sweet and healthy apple crisps.
All you need are 4 apples sliced thinly, and 3 tbsp of cinnamon sugar (an equal mix of Dhampure Bura sugar and powdered cinnamon). Place the sliced apples on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper and lightly oiled. Coat the slices in the cinnamon sugar. Bake in a 100°C oven for 90 minutes or till crisp.
